Not quite henna, Henna #2

I love regular henna but the current situation is that I’ve just been too lazy to go through the process of looking for inspo to waiting til it’s dried so ordered some henna tattoos off eBay. Partly my inspiration was Tamanna Roashan modelling her own henna transfers which you can buy here or the dupe from here. Those are a mix of metallic and black so I wanted to see what I could do that was a) cheaper and b) more customisable than the branded sheets (which usually only have 1 to 4 sheets per pack) and c) only black as opposed to the mixed, metallic or white ones which I know I would never use.

I bought four packs of transfers with 8 sheets in each. You can buy the ones I got here at £2.90. There's so much you can do with the choice of designs. The quality of the sheets is really good, it's on a firm thick paper with a protective plastic sheet over it. Once you remove the plastic, like most transfers, it's sticky which helps keep it in place when reaching for the wet towel to press over it.

To do the design I did, I only needed one and a half tattoos. The main baroque design was one. Then the fingers and bracelet were all from half of the strip tattoo above. I just cut it up and used the pieces as shown. They last nicely up to a week if you take care of it properly – something I’m guilty of not doing. You’re supposed to dab when drying your hands after washing but I’ve been wiping with the towel as usual which meant the fingers didn’t last long at all. The lower design stuck it out and lasted a good couple days before that too, was sabotaged by my carelessness. If you want to take them off it’s not very difficult, all you do is soak the area in warm water and rub it away. You can use a loofah to speed up the process and make it easier if it’s more stubborn or sometimes it just rubs away whilst dry.

Pro’s; Easy, quick, pretty designs, customisable, lots in a pack, good quality, cheap.

Cons; take forever(a month) to get here, don't last as long as natural henna.

The nails I’ve got on are just £1 stiletto ones from primark. I’m not much of a false nails person so wouldn’t know how they compare to other brands but I just loved the colour and shape. That picture doesn’t do them justice as they actually looked like acrylics aside from the obvious thinness. It was hard to do regular things in them though because I’m not used to them and I just felt I had to be careful or they’d snap off. I found myself re-gluing multiple times for the two days I wore them for and personally wouldn’t wear them any longer to avoid build-up of glue on my natural nails which took forever to fully come off. To get the nails alone off, it was easy, I just soaked them in hot water and gently pulled away.

Do excuse the odd alignment of the text, it just isn't cooperating with me today x
